Springing from travel photos, drawings and memory, the paintings express both the impression of a place once experienced and the projection of places unexplored. Where observation, memory and invention converge, a distant panorama becomes my own backyard, quivering like so many mirrors, reflecting back the picture of my world. More than recording one pause for a view, the painting is not one moment or one vista, but an imaginary world unto itself.  The paintings may reflect back to the viewer a memory or desire in their own experience, both private and shared.
